From Wiki
Welcome to Wikimobipedia | Your Independent Resource for All Things Mobile.
Wikimobipedia is a user-generated index of mobile suppliers and insights - mobile advertising networks, case studies, rich media, content, apps, mobile video, sms platforms, research, audience data, WAP site builders, and more. The objective here is to provide a centralized, dynamic resource for buyers of mobile marketing, advertising and related products and services - so that they can easily access the information they need to begin the purchase process. It was designed to be an open space so that companies and others on the "sell side" can easily educate those on the "buy side" as to their offerings and related knowledge, but with built in protections to safeguard against folks looking to cause mischief.

Buyers Guide (Your Search Starts Here)
|
|
|
This is where buyers can start the process for discovering mobile marketing service offerings, targeting options, audience comps, case studies, pricing models, contact information, etc. The wiki’s content is primarily populated by the media vendors directly, so you don't have to :) - but this also means that page quality varies significantly from vendor to vendor!
There's three basic ways buyers interact with the site:
- Reading. Yes, one can go to wikimobipedia.org and search for mobile suppliers – this is what is was designed for. The site uses all the normal Wikipedia conventions you’re used to… the search bar is in the left nav (or you can browse the categories if you are a more advanced user). Just type in a generic search query like "text", "SMS" "app" or "rich media" - or a company-specific search like "Admob", "The Weather Channel" or "Quattro" - and your off to the races...
- Promoting. Wiki’s live and die by user participation (editing and creating pages, wiki style). If possible, encourage vendors and media partners not yet in the wiki to participate in this project by creating a page and adding info on their company... and spread the word to your agency colleagues that this resource exists for your benefit! Use it or lose it!
- Contributing. While the site’s contributors will primarily be those on the sell side, there’s no reason why you buyers can’t also drop a little knowledge from time to time. If you've got something you want to add to a page, just do it. Go to the help editing pages section for more on how to do that. Just be careful and respectful of others at all times - only write what you know to be true (avoid opinions!), and don't post anything confidential or you'll get yourself in trouble with your clients and agency!
List of Who's in the Wiki (as of 12.24.09)
Some of you have been asking for a directory of who's who, broken out by who does what. We'll get around to it eventually, but in the meantime we've started off with a list of all the companies and organizations that have taken the time to post their info here (use the search box if you're looking for something specific).
Note: "Spammy" listings will not get included in the home page directory. If you have to ask what makes a listing "Spammy," you'll never know... but in general a three line description, with no case studies or anything else of value = spam!

ground rules
- After registering and logging in, anyone can create or modify all Wikimobipedia content except a few core pages (like this one)
- Please feel free to add value, but do not monkey around or vandalize the site!
- Vandalism isn't hard to spot, is easily reversed, and can get you banned - don't do it!
- Be respectful to others at all times.
what to include
- A simple description of what your company does, sells, etc (your basic offering)
- Contact info for your sales and biz dev folks - organized geographically if need be
- Case studies and testimonials are great if you've got 'em and can share
- Breaking news or even fun stuff going on at your company
- Be sure to categorize your page so others can find you!
- Links to your website are encouraged
what not to include
- Links to wikipedia.org pages or related content.
- Overly "sales-y" language - try to stick to the facts.
- Tech jargon, vague or indecipherable corporate speak (ex: "seamless, end-to-end back-end infrastructure solutions provider")
- Unprovable claims that add zero value (ex: "we're a leader in X").
- Don't make absurd product claims or talk up vaporware... you will get called out - publicly!
